Drawn and engraved Tallis' engraver, the great John Rapkin, this sheet features the Western and Eastern hemispheres side-by-side. The map of the Western Hemisphere extends to include New Zealand and the Solomon Islands in the Pacific, and the Cape Verde Islands in the Atlantic. Alaska is Russian America, New California occupies all the west coast, and the coast of Antarctica is partially defined. In the Eastern Hemisphere, the Steam Route for the British Empire is delineated.

Issued folding with a couple of tiny tears at bottom left along the border of the Western Hemisphere that have been closed on verso with old tape, resulting in a light stain on recto. An edge tear in the right blank margin has been archivally repaired on verso.
