Very unusual map of the ancient world filled with vignettes illustrating the major events in the history of the world. The map is surrounded on three sides with German text containing 217 historical entries beginning with events from the Old Testament and ending in 1733. At bottom are two solar system diagrams and a small double-hemisphere world map showing a large Terra Australis and what appears to be an elongated California as an island stretching to Asia. This example was issued dissected and mounted on linen with green cloth edging.

A nice impression with moderate soiling and light toning along the folds. There are a number of separations of the linen along the folds and a few holes at fold intersections with minor loss of image. A previous owner has closed some of the separations with black binding tape on verso.
