This is the first state of this superbly engraved plan of the coastal city of Harlingen, located in the province of Friesland. The map shows the city as a walled medieval town, filled with many buildings. 14 sites of interest are identified with a numbered key at the lower right. Several ships fill the ports and docks, and the decorative title cartouche is attended by two merfolk. Two coats of arms hover above the plan. Blank verso.
