This lovely chart depicts the passage of comets in the southern skies between the years 1530-1740. It is centered on the ecliptic pole and shows the constellation figures based on classical mythology, without showing the stars. The paths of several comets are illustrated, and the chart identifies 2 "newly discovered" stars in 1596 and 1704. Surrounding the hemispheres are various diagrams and two tables including details about the comets and stars depicted on the chart.
