This lot features two unusual engravings of astronomical phenomena from Mallet's Description de l'Univers. The first sheet features three globes divided into various zones. The sun's rays hit the globe from different angles, with figures on the globe's surface casting shadows. On the second sheet, two diagrams illustrating ancient conceptions of solar eclipses hover above a scene of ruins in the countryside.
