This beautifully rendered bird's eye view depicts late 19th century Rome, which is protected by the large fortified walls in the foreground and background and by the Tiber River to its west. Across the Tiber is the Basilica of St. Peter's and the Vatican (along the right border). A table at bottom lists numerous points of interest, which are keyed to the map. Lithographed in Milan by Francesco Vallardi.
