This splashy pictorial map by French commercial artist C.M. Perrot was issued as a promotional item by Messageries Maritimes. It covers the company's Pacific Ocean Line from Sydney to Tahiti. Perrot fills the map with illustrations done in a striking primitivist style. Black & white photographs of three new ocean liners appear in the Pacific: the Caledonien, the Tahitien, and the Polynesie. Construction on these ships was completed between 1952-54.
