These two volumes are complete with all monthly issues of The Analectic Magazine for 1815. They are notable for the inclusion of an early and lengthy review of the recently published edition of Lewis & Clark's History of the Expedition found in the February and March issues (pages 127-49 and 210-234). The review signed by “B” includes excerpts from the original volumes and is generally favorable, concluding in part, “we almost imagine ourselves to be of the party: and the journal seems like a vehicle by which we are enabled to keep pace with the travelers.” Volume 5 (438 pages) and Volume 6 (524 pages) both unusually bound in suede with title labels on the spine. Bound in with Volume 5 is a 127-page anti-war pamphlet entitled Letters Addressed to Caleb Strong, Esq. Please note that the binder erred in placing the title and index with the wrong volume (so the title page for volume 5 is with the text for volume 6 and vice versa). Published by Moses Thomas in Philadelphia.
