This historical atlas includes the 10 maps of the world known in ancient times. Most maps are finely engraved and embellished with decorative title cartouches. The map of the world, Carte de l'Ancien et du Nouveau Monde Suivant une projection nouvelle, shows North America with a bulging coastline above Cap Blanc and a large River of the West connecting Lake Winnipeg with the Pacific. Australia is shown in a rudimentary form with the mainland connected to both Tasmania and New Guinea. The atlas includes a title page and list of maps. Quarto, hardbound in full vellum.

There are dampstains affecting the maps, entering the map image on about half of the maps. There is minor foxing on the maps, but the title page and list of maps are heavily foxed. The covers are heavily soiled and a bit warped, with extensive old manuscript ink text.
