This is the second edition map from this popular series by Claude G. Putnam that ran from 1946-63 promoting tourism in Southern California. The colorful bird's-eye view is drawn in the style of Jo Mora, and covers the counties of San Bernardino, Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Diego, and Imperial. It shows missions, places of interest, historically significant events in the region, and important routes including the Butterfield and Anza trails. This version of the map was published by the Long Beach Convention Bureau with large illustrations and text touting the city's attractions on verso. Self-folding into pictorial wrappers with title "Convention City Long Beach California America's Most Modern Port" (3.9 x 8.7").

The map is clean and bright with a few short separations along the folds. There are two small rust stains on verso that were caused by a paperclip.
