This beautiful pictorial map by graphic artist Tom Culverwell covers the White Mountain National Forest in New Hampshire. It was issued by the New Hampshire Aerial Tramway Commission and highlights the Cannon Mountain Aerial Passenger Tramway, the first aerial passenger tramway in the United States. Recreational activities are illustrated throughout the map and in small vignettes along the edges. The Old Man of the Mountains, a distinctive rock formation that collapsed in 2003, is depicted. Mountains are named with their elevations, and highways, rivers, and the Appalachian Trail are delineated. Cabins, shelters, and fire lookouts are indicated as well. A small key map at bottom left zooms out to show the national park in the context of the wider New England region. The map extends slightly across the border into Maine.
