This uncommon German map of the southern United States, Mexico and Central America features an independent Republic of Texas in its large stove-pipe configuration. Mexico is divided into states and territories, which are listed in a table at bottom left. The map is filled with Indian names and some spurious geography in the Great Basin, and a comprehensive list of mountains at left. Texas is stated in the legend as comprising an area of 8,000 square miles, with a total population of more than 100,000.
