Superb map of the southern part of the continent by the influential French cartographer. Particular emphasis is given to the river systems and the numerous volcanoes strung along the Nevadas los Andes. There is also a great amount of detail in Paraguay where the large, mythical Lago de los Xarayes forms the headwaters of the River Plata. Title is enclosed in a bold Greek key style cartouche. Engraved by Jean Somer.

A sharp impression on a bright sheet with a bunch of grapes medallion watermark. There is light foxing, marginal soiling, and a few extraneous creases that have been pressed flat. There are professional repairs to short separations along the centerfold at top and bottom and to a few small chips and tears along the edges of the sheet.
