This superb engraving shows the chateau of Versailles with its magnificent gardens and fountains. Well-dressed ladies and gentlemen fill the road in front of the castle and the stroll through the grounds. The title is in French and Dutch, with a numbered key below identifying 8 locations in the view. A very rare view, published in De Wit's town atlas of cities in Europe.

A dark impression on a lightly toned sheet with an "H" watermark. There is light soiling that is mostly confined to the margins, a few short edge tears that have been archivally repaired, and a small chip in the publisher's imprint that has been repaired with paper on verso. Very narrow top margin and some minor extraneous creasing.
