This map shows the postal roads and stations throughout the German Empire, extending as far south as the Adriatic Sea. The legend at bottom left, written in both Latin and German, identifies postal roads that can be used by wagons or carriages, as well as those only suitable to be traveled by horse. The map is filled with hundreds of tiny towns and shows good detail of the river systems. Handsomely embellished with a large title cartouche featuring Mercury holding a letter, the Imperial coat of arms, a stagecoach, and several riders on horseback. The legend is adorned with a cherub flying a Pegasus.
