This copper engraved miniature map depicts the Americas on Mercator's projection. California is shown correctly as a peninsula, while the northwest coastline is left undefined. There is little detail aside from major rivers and some place names. The British colonies are confined to the eastern seaboard. Published in Volume IV of Noel Antoine Pluche's Le Spectacle de la Nature, a book dedicated to natural history.
