This pictorial map of Asia was the board for a promotional game for the adventure radio series Jack Armstrong, the All-American Boy. The series, which ran from 1933 to 1951, was devised by General Mills as a way to promote Wheaties to a young audience. It revolved around Armstrong, a high school athlete who would travel across the globe with his industrialist uncle and his friends, Billy and Betty. Designed by Hal G. Arbo, the map delineates a course for players to take through the landscape of Asia, starting in Manila and traveling through China, Tibet, India, and Indochina. Along the way are the sorts of obstacles Armstrong and his pals would encounter week after week: pirates, bandits, plane crashes, typhoons, and more. Portraits of Jack and his friends appear in the title cartouche. Rules and directions run underneath the map. On verso is a "hand-written" note from Jack Armstrong himself. This lot does not include the original cardboard spinner or metal dragon talisman.
