This pictorial map by the Standard Oil Co. promotes the nascent Pan American Highway to encourage travel by automobile. The extensive highway is depicted in red overprinting with dotted sections indicating "projected or impassable" roads. Descriptive text at bottom notes that "in a few years the dream of a generation of Americans - North, South and Central - will be realized." In addition to the highway, the map is densely and attractively illustrated with small vignettes representative of the various regions. Verso includes the flags and brief descriptions of each country. Self-folding into pictorial wrappers (4.2 x 9.0").
