This bird's-eye plan of the city and fortifications of Jakarta illustrates the 1740 Batavia massacre of Chinese residents by the Dutch East India Company. A detailed lettered and numbered key identifies the buildings and sites of importance. The layout includes fields, trees, and a compass rose, which orients the plan with north to the left.
