This gorgeous and scarce pictorial map was designed by Fred S. Bertsch for the 1937 Tulip Time Festival. Held annually since 1929 in Holland, Michigan, the festival celebrates the blossoming of hundreds of thousands of tulips. Printed in a striking red-blue-yellow color scheme, the map features a field of tulips along the bottom. At top is a vignette of a lakeside scene with a little Dutch girl holding freshly picked tulips in the shadow of a windmill. This example features a stamp over the vignette for Peck's, a local drugstore. The map centers on Lake Macatawa and includes a grid of the streets and illustrations of local businesses and attractions. Advertisements appear along the sides. On verso is a festival program and more advertisements and information.
