This sumptuous and uncommon map centers on the Italian city of Vicenza, depicted in miniature plan form. Padua and Trento are also shown in plan form, and several other towns and cities are located. The mountainous terrain is well rendered. At bottom left is a title cartouche featuring three noblemen standing around a statue of Diana. The distance scale at bottom right incorporates silk worms and flora. The coat of arms of the Venetian Republic with the winged lion hovers at top right. Jansson's version of this map can be distinguished from Blaeu's virtually identical map by the location of the Latin names of the wind directions, here in between the graduated border and outer frame. German text on verso, published between 1644-58.
