This is an uncommon version of Pierre Mortier's map of the region from the Mediterranean through the Persian Gulf. Detail is omitted in favor of small Biblical depictions engraved within the map, including the Sermon on the Mount, Babylon, the Garden of Eden, Noah's Ark and others. Three tiny ships sail in the Persian Gulf. The pictorial scale of miles is surmounted by a lion and a lamb with a serpent in an apple tree to the left. Title is in both French and Dutch in panel at top.
