An attractive and detailed Scottish map of the south-central United States showing counties, county seats, forts, Indian reservations, and an early railroad network branching out from Houston. It rather oddly includes inset maps of Chicago and New Orleans at lower left, neither of which relate to the main map image. Circa date is based upon Maverick County appearing along the Rio Grande (1871) coupled with the large Young and Bexar territories which were replaced with counties from 1874-76.
