This map was issued in the Annual Report of the Commissioner of Indian Affairs to the Secretary of the Interior. It shows the status of Indian Reservations within the western United States with existing, proposed, and "extinguished" Indian lands noted via various color and line. Large existing tracts are visible in Montana, the Dakotas, and Indian Territory while a huge tract in western Colorado for the Ute tribe was set to expire. The map also identifies Indian agencies, Army outposts, towns, railroads, and Yellowstone National Park. The map is still bound into the front of the 476-page report. Hardbound in brown cloth with gilt title on spine.

The folding map has some light color offsetting. Text is very good with a hint of pleasant toning. The binding is sunned with some light staining on the covers, and the edges are bumped.
