This stunning bird’s-eye view of Chicago was created by Arno Reincke and published by the Aeroview Company of Chicago. The view is taken from Lake Michigan looking west, with Grant Park, downtown, and numerous railroad depots and docks in the foreground. Residential areas and several parks including Douglas, Garfield are located in the background before the view fades into the horizon. Text on the inside front panel of the wrapper reads: This AEROVIEW of Chicago is the most remarkable Map Picture that has been made—remarkable for its great range of vision, the stupendous task of making such a drawing, and the extreme accuracy in the architectural ‘layout.’ …The work occupied over three years of continuous effort by the greatest bird’s eye view artist in this country.” We found only one past sales record for this map in the last 30 years and one institutional example on OCLC (Harvard).

A colorful example on a bright sheet, issued folding. There are old cloth tape repairs to a number of fold separations along the horizontal fold, several of which have since reopened. Other separations along the bottom and top sheet edges have been closed on verso with archival tape. Paper wrappers have light wear.
