This detailed map of the Green Mountain State was designed by John E. Buck of Saint Albans. The map is covered in small illustrations and historical notations. Among the illustrations are the Vermont State House in Montpelier (as well as the first two state houses), the Bennington Battle Monument, the University of Vermont, the discovery of Lake Champlain, Middlebury College, the birthplace of Calvin Coolidge, Indian villages, and Ethan Allen's grave. The state's seal appears above the title, and below it is a historical sketch of the state's history.
