This is Pierre Mortier's map of the region from the Mediterranean through the Persian Gulf. Detail is omitted in favor of small Biblical depictions engraved within the map, including the Sermon on the Mount, Babylon, the Garden of Eden, Noah's Ark and others. Three tiny ships sail in the Persian Gulf and a pictorial scale of miles surmounted by a lion and a lamb with a serpent in an apple tree adorns the upper-left corner. Title is in both French and Dutch in panel at top.
