This lot features 3 of the 8 charts included in Burritt's celestial atlas. This popular star atlas was intended for the general public, rather than for professional astronomers. As such, only the brighter stars and nebulae, and their allegorical forms, are depicted on the charts. Charts include:
A. Northern Circumpolar Map for Each Month in the Year, (12.6 x 12.3"). Condition: There is minor foxing and light soiling mostly in the margins. (B+)
B. Southern Circumpolar Map for Each Month in the Year, (12.6 x 12.3"). Condition: There is minor foxing and light soiling mostly in the margins. (B+)
C. A Celestial Planisphere, or Map of the Heavens, (20.2 x 13.9"). Condition: There is some dampstaining in the image and a few printer's creases at bottom. Adjacent to the centerfold, there are four pairs of binding holes as issued. (B)
