This is a detailed examination of the making of this important, early, illustrated book, and was published in a limited run of only 300 copies. Written by Ellen Shaffer, the volume includes numerous images of the engravings from the Nuremberg Chronicle. The endpapers reproduce one of the maps from the Chronicle, and the covers feature one of the town plans. This example is lacking the tipped-in leaf from the original 1497 pirated Augsburg edition of the Chronicle, which was typically included in this limited edition. Small folio. 61 pp. Hardbound in teal blue cloth with pictorial-printed covers.
