A. The Expeditions of John Charles Fremont Volume 2 The Bear Flag Revolt and the Court Martial, edited by Mary Lee Spence & Donald Jackson, published 1973, black & white (6.4 x 9.5"). This standalone volume of Mary Lee Spence and Donald Jackson's documentary history of John Charles Fremont chronicles the years 1845-48, starting with his third California expedition and concluding with his resignation from the Army. It includes 21 black & white illustrations. Published by the University of Illinois Press. Spence and Jackson's Fremont complete Fremont project comprises three volumes and a map portfolio. 519 pages. Hardbound in rust cloth with maroon title labels on front and spine and an illustrated dust jacket.

B. After Lewis & Clark - The Forces of Change, 1806-1871, by Gary Allen Hood, published 2006, printed color (9.1 x 12.1"). This handsomely produced book highlights 60 paintings, drawings, and prints of the American West from the collection of the Gilcrease Museum in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Written by senior curator Gary Allen Hood, the book was published in conjunction with the exhibit of the same name, which ran at the museum from January to April 2006. It includes full color illustrations of works by Audubon, Bodmer, Catlin, Moran, and more. 96 pages. Stiff illustrated paper covers.
