This pictorial bird’s-eye view of the Jack London neighborhood was drawn by Ted Hubbard and published by the Hubbard Advertising Agency. “Here you find one of America’s most fascinating districts,” which extends from Fallon Street northwest to Market Street and from 7th Street southwest to the Bay with scores of individual buildings drawn and named. The map reveals an eclectic mix of businesses in the neighborhood including restaurants, retail shops, warehouses, manufacturers, produce distributors, and more. Along the bay, large text draws the readers attention to Jack London Square as a “mecca for dining and gay festivities.” Published less than a year after the naming of Jack London Square (May 1, 1951).
