A. Amerique Meridionale. A finely engraved miniature map of the whole of South America showing the principal colonies and kingdoms. It is embellished with vignettes of Indians on land, sailing ships in the surrounding seas, and an ornate title cartouche. The mythical equatorial lake Parime is shown, as well as the equally spurious Xarayes Lac, depicted as the headwaters of the La Plata. French text on verso.
B. Pais qui sont aux Environs de la Riviere de la Plata et du Pais des Patagons. This map shows nearly the entire continent but focuses on the region of the River de la Plata. The title cartouche, which obscures the northern part of the continent, is flanked by putti, snakes, a lizard and a turtle. Four ships sail in the seas, two engaged in a battle. French text on verso.
