This is an uncommon map of North America with some very interesting theoretical cartography concerning a Northwest Passage. The most prominent feature is a River of the West, which connects Lake Superior with the Lake of the Woods and Lake Winnipeg and then flows off the map supposedly to the Pacific. It also links to Hudson Bay through a system of streams and lakes. In Northern Canada are faint engraved lines showing the Sea of the West with a passage between it and Hudson Bay.

A nice impression with contemporary outline color, a hint of offsetting, and minor soiling. There are archival repairs to a centerfold separation at left and an edge tear that enters 1.5" into map image at right.
