This charming small plan shows the city in good detail with the major streets named. The map locates the President's House, the Capitol, and Georgetown. A compass rose with fleur-de-lys appears at top right. An uncommon issue, not in Phillips, Maps and Views of Washington and District of Columbia, or in Baynton-Williams' Plans of Washington, D.C. (Mapforum, Issue 12).

The map is very similar to the Jedidiah Morse map of 1794, and was published in Zimmermann's Taschenbuch der Reisen, an uncommon travel book devoted entirely to America. Zimmermann (1743-1815) was a German philosopher, zoologist, and geographer. His Taschenbuch der Reisen was issued in 12 annual editions describing Zimmermann's travels throughout the world, with the 1805 edition dealing with the United States and Canada.
