"Cape Cod",

This splashy vintage pictorial map of Cape Cod was illustrated by Janina Lamb. Lamb is still an active commercial artist and describes the process of making "cartoon maps" on her website. Before the internet era, her work required her to study paper maps and travel to the locale she was illustrating to take photos of the businesses being advertised. Several local restaurants, shops, hotels, and tourist attractions appear across the map. The surrounding waters are filled with sailboats, tour cruises, whales, seagulls, and a surfing Santa. A quippy sun and rain cloud overlook the scene. The title appears across several hot air balloons, and the points of the compass rose are sails. A fun and vibrant poster.
