This lovely map of the Metz wine region, centered on the city of Metz and the Moselle River Valley. Among the fine topographical detail are several vineyards. An ancient aqueduct spans the Moselle. The map is richly embellished in each corner with coats of arms, distance scales, and a garland draped title cartouche. Latin text on verso, published between 1640-43.

References: Van der Krogt (Vol. II) #4270:2A.

Condition: B

On a moderately toned sheet with a serpent watermark. There is a small hole near center caused by an ink stain, a few light spots of foxing, and extraneous creasing along the centerfold. Several short edge tears are confined to the sheet's blank margins. Small remnants of hinge tape on verso.
