This elegantly engraved map of Greece features many ancient place names. There is nice detail of Crete, and the Aegean Islands are named. It is adorned with an ornate title cartouche at bottom left that incorporates four distance scales. Engraved by Thomas Kitchin for an English edition of Rollin's Histoire Ancienne (1730-38).

Condition: B+

A nice impression issued folding, now flat, on a sheet with a "96" watermark. There is an archivally repaired edge tear that enters 1" into map image at right and light toning and offsetting.
