This handsome hand-colored lithograph depicts a little cormorant, a seabird with shimmering black plumage and webbed feet, typically found on the Indian Subcontinent. "Drawn from Nature & on Stone by J. & E. Gould." John Gould (1804-81) created some of the most beautiful bird prints ever produced and was known throughout the world as "The Bird Man." This lithograph was published in his 5-volume The Birds of Europe (1832-37). Printed by C. Hullmandel.

Condition: A

Full contemporary color with light marginal soiling, a couple short edge tears, and minor dampstaining and small chips along the bottom edge, well away from lithographed image.
