This rare panoramic bird's-eye view of the Mid-Atlantic coastline was published by the Poole Bros. as a promotional item for the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad. It stretches from Virginia's Tidewater region north to Boston and extends inland to show the Blue Ridge, Allegheny, Adirondack, and White mountains and cities like Harper's Ferry, Gettysburg, and Albany. Major cities like Washington, D.C., Baltimore, Philadelphia, and New York are depicted with hazy renderings of the architecture. A red line describes the course of the railroad, and there are steamship routes in the Atlantic. An inset map at bottom right shows the entire Baltimore & Ohio system. The Baltimore & Ohio Railroad is the oldest railroad in the United States. There is more information for the tourist and black & white photography on verso. Self-folding into pictorial wrappers (4.0 x 9.0") with an alternate title: Eastern Summer Trips via Baltimore & Ohio Railroad.
