This map shows the evolving road network in Orange County with paved roads marked in red overprinting and “ordinary roads” marked by double lines. Text beneath the map promote the county’s 230 miles of paved roads, adding that “improved highways are an investment that pays enormous dividends in too many ways to enumerate.” City limits are shown for Santa Ana, Fullerton, Anaheim, Huntington Beach, and several more. Also shown is the vast undeveloped Irvine Subdivision, Forest of Arden (home of the Modjeskas), and both oil fields and oil wells. A table shows soil and oil production through 1918 and adjacent text describes it as “the richest County in soil Products in America.” Orange County’s population at this time was nearing 50,000. It currently has over 3 million residents. Published by George Davis for J.L. McBride, County Surveyor. Self-folds into a pictorial mailer with a 1919 postmark.
