This colorful bird's-eye view plan of Miami and Miami Beach was drawn by Don Mahn for the Scenotour Publishing Co. The legend locates public and Catholic schools, libraries, hospitals, city halls, churches, post offices, public parks, recreation and shopping centers, heliports, beach parking, and seaplane bases. A list of 45 sites of interest at bottom is keyed to the map. Perhaps the most interesting (and ephemeral) site on the map is the grounds for the Inter-American Cultural and Trade Center (or Interama). This planned permanent international exposition received the official green light and federal government backing in 1950, but as development continued throughout the 60s, the project cratered and construction terminated in 1968. The verso features two additional maps of North and South Miami, text, and "natural color photo views." Self-folding into pictorial wrappers (5.5 x 9.0") showing the view of Miami by incoming commercial flight, with a price reduced to 50 cents from $1.
