As part of its extensive coverage of the disaster, Harper's Weekly, the leading illustrated national magazine of contemporary cultural life, included this pre-fire view of the city. Drawn by Theodore R. Davis, the illustration is taken from Lake Michigan looking west to beyond Union Park. 49 points of interest are keyed to the map at bottom including the White Stocking Base-ball Ground, Board of Trade, Lincoln Park, Lake Shore Drive, Northwestern, and more. Published in the October 21, 1871 issue.
