This lovely map of Peru is fully engraved to depict the mountainous country and numerous towns and cities of the Inca civilization. It is decorated with a strapwork title cartouche, large compass rose, and rhumblines. Masterfully engraved by Petrus Kaerius for Cloppenburgh's atlas, which was a medium-sized atlas - in between the folio and Atlas Minor sizes - based on Mercator's maps. French text on verso, published between 1630-1636.

Condition: A

A crisp impression with a hint of soiling and minor creasing. There are archival repairs to a couple chips and an edge tear confined to the blank margins.
