Modeled after the Braun & Hogenberg plan of the city, this stunning bird's-eye view depicts Rhodes with south oriented to the top. It is shown as a circular town with a well fortified harbor. The town is surrounded by three impressive walls with several windmills just outside the harbor, which is filled with a variety of ships. This example was published in one of Mortier's editions of Blaeu's Italian townbook of 1663. Originally issued on a sheet with a plan of Calaris. Blank verso.
