Ortelius based this fine map of the Persian Empire in part on Gastaldi's 1564 map of Asia Minor and on his own 1567 Asia map. The map is filled with village and city names. Decorative elements include large strapwork title cartouche and a distance scale surmounted by a strange bestiary creature. This is the first state, with Latin text on verso and page number 85.

Condition: B+
Full contemporary color on a sheet with an eagle watermark, minor toning, a bit of offsetting, and a few small worm holes in the image. The green pigment has oxidized to brown but the paper is still supple.
