This attractive map focuses on the region between the Black and Caspian Seas. There is great detail of the mountains, cities and villages. Colchis is the legendary kingdom in the Greek myth wherein Jason and the Argonauts stole the Golden Fleece from King Aeetes. The decorative title cartouche is draped in a sheepskin and flanked by two hunting dogs.

A dark impression with contemporary outline color on a clean, bright sheet with the watermark of papermaker Pieter van der Ley. There is minor toning along the centerfold and light offsetting.
