This striking World War II map was produced by Ernest Dudley Chase and highlights the Pacific Theater of the War. It depicts all of Japan, Korea, and coastal China with swarms of American warplanes attacking Japan from all sides. These planes are intentionally juxtaposed against Japan's Rising Sun flag at bottom, whose rays appear to be contracting inward as if under attack. A legend at bottom identifies naval bases, cities and their sizes, and the various types of aircraft used in the attack. The verso contains a second map entitled Pacific Battle Map which extends from the Pacific Theater east to include the United States showing naval bases and possessions. Self-folding (4.0 x 8.0").

A bright example issued folding with a couple short splits at the fold junctions and an archivally repaired fold separation at bottom that enters 1" into map image. There is minor wear along the folds and ink manuscript notations on recto (cartouche only) and verso.
