This decorative map depicts northeastern Africa from Egypt to eastern Libya. It focuses on the Nile River valley, locating a number of cities. A lone lion prances west of the Nile. The superb title cartouche features merchants from the region, a snake, a cheetah, and elephant, and a pair of camels. This map appears to be a copy of Melchoir Tavernier's Patriarchatus Alexandrini Geographica Descriptio from 1640.
