This scarce small map centered on Papua New Guinea was published in the February 1763 issue of Scots Magazine. It extends to include northern Australia, New Britain, and some of the Maluku Islands. The map notes that the "Land of the Papous" was named by Jacob Le Maire and his discoveries along the northern side of New Britain in 1617 are also noted. Rhumb lines and a fleur-de-lis fill the waters. Adorned by a decorative title cartouche at bottom left.
