This important B.A.E. report was published when John Wesley Powell was its director. There are two sections in this part 1 of the report. The first section is "The Seri Indians" by W.J. McGee and the second is "Calendar History of Kiowa Indians" by James Mooney. There are three maps in the volume including Seriland (12.5 x 9.1"), The Kiowa Range Showing the Location of the Plains Tribes in 1832... (9.9 x 16.3") and Kiowa Migration Route... (15.7 x 9.9"). The volume is profusely illustrated with 81 total plates, a few of which are in color, featuring portraits, tools, weapons, and more. Hardbound in contemporary leather.

Condition: B+

The plates are clean, crisp and near fine to fine. Text is near fine with a hint of pleasant light toning. Front cover and spine backstrip are detached and the text block is cracked. Covers have moderate wear and the spine backstrip is chipped at bottom.
